Donation Drive Fundraiser
African Queens Dance Company will host its first fundraiser of the new year in January. Join us as we collect clean, gently used clothes, shoes, books and small household goods. (Unfortunately, we are unable to accept large items or furniture of any kind. Find a full list of accepted and prohibited items below.) Drop off your goods on Jan 30th or schedule an advanced pick up using the form below.

Donation pickup may be available in your area on Sunday, January 24th. Use the form below to request a pickup. You will be contacted by phone to schedule the exact pickup time and location. All pickup requests must be received by 6pm on Saturday, January 23, 2016. |
FAQs
What types of things do you accept?
We accept shoes, clothing, hats, bags, purses, jewelry, ornaments, baskets, candles, socks, bed and bath linens, blankets, pillows, curtains, tablecloths, small electronics (toasters, blenders, coffee pots, waffle irons, hairdryers, flat/curling irons), pots, pans, dishes, silverware, china, books, toys, games, puzzles, sports equipment, hand tools, magazines,records, computer software, CDs and DVDs.
What items are prohibited?
We do not accept furniture, encyclopedias, flammable items, explosives, combustibles, weapons, firearms, ammunition, tires, mufflers, fenders, beds and bed parts (frames, box springs, etc), construction materials (lumber, pipes, flooring, etc), barbecues, propane tanks, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, camp stores, large appliances (dishwashers, stoves, washing machines, etc), TVs, computer monitors, animals, food, infant products or car seats.
What is the best way to package my donation items?
Please package soft goods in large plastic bags, such as black lawn/trash bags. For hard goods, please place in boxes or large bags as appropriate and wrap any fragile items in paper to prevent breakage.
Where do the donated items go?
All donated items will be sold to Savers Thrift Stores. Savers is an international company, whose store proceeds benefit various non-profit organizations worldwide. Read more about them here.
Will I get a tax receipt for the items I donate?
Yes you will receive a tax receipt for your donated goods. You are responsible for valuating the goods and completing the receipt.
How do you value items for tax purposes?
For state and federal tax purposes it is up to the person donating to determine the fair market value of the items donated. Although the person donating is responsible for determining the value of the items donated, two resources to help determine fair market value are:
